Basement Sports Welcomes in the New Year

The dawn of a new year brings fresh opportunities to learn and grow, even after a year as challenging as 2020.

Year after year, improving one’s fitness emerges as one of the most common New Year’s Eve resolutions. It was the top pick for Americans at the start of 2020, according to a YouGov poll, and was equally popular heading into 2019.

Alas, many such resolutions quickly fall apart, often due to a simple but intractable reality: the human brain isn’t wired for making swift adjustments to longstanding habits. Due to this trend, experts suggest people start by committing only to exercises they actually like, a tactic of particular importance given our exhausting status quo.

Basement Sports provides users with a way to work up a sweat and have a blast in the process, all from the comfort of one’s own home. Basement Baseball is on the market, and Basketball, Soccer, and Hockey are close behind. In addition, opportunities like the Basement Baseball World Series allow kids of all ages to compete for prizes while creatively structuring their environment.

“It’s important that we find a way to move our bodies that we not only look forward to, but that brings us joy,” says Elisha Contner Wilkins, Executive Director of Veritas Collaborative. “Many associate movement with going to a gym . . . versus choosing something that brings a smile to their face.”

2021, like any year, may well invite its own batch of challenges. Why not get a jumpstart with a goal you can beat, that can keep you smiling along the way? The Basement Sports team is eager to help you on that journey.

Happy New Year!
